Resoomer is Dead. But here are the Alternatives

Resoomer was an excellent AI summarizer tool I used often before Chat GPT arrived (before the AI bloom). Back then, there were not many tools that could summarize text, especially documents, so well. Plus, it offered features like summarizing articles from the URLs (no need to copy-paste the text, it could automatically parse web pages and accurately fetch the text) and the ability to upload entire documents to summarize. To summarize web pages, you only needed to drop the URL in its text box or open the Resoomer extension from the article page you wanted to summarize.

However, now it seems the tool is gone for good. At least the free version and extension that used to work so well for most use cases, don’t work now. I’m not sure about the paid version, though.

Once an excellent tool has become good for nothing. See the video below.

In the free version, the progress bar keeps starting over, leading nowhere/doing nothing.

Free Alternatives

As I said before, Resoomer was an excellent AI summarizer before Chat GPT’s release. Today, with hundreds of LLMs (large language models) available, especially those with context windows of more than you’d ever need, tools like Resoomer are largely outdated.

So you can use Open AI’s Chat GPT and Google’s Gemini (free versions) to summarize any text for any use case. However, their free versions won’t let you upload documents. That’s where Quora’s Poe comes in. Not only does it host many LLMs (both open-source and proprietary), but its free version also lets you upload documents with reasonable enough context windows.

But here are some other free alternatives that I like and sometimes use:

Summarizer

The best text summarizer you’ll ever use. Reduces word count while improving quality and without skipping anything important.

Grammarly AI Summarizing Tool

Does the job but sometimes over-optimizes the text.

Summarizing Tools to Avoid

Here’s the list of summarizing tools that suck:

QuillBot Text Summarizer

Everything that QuillBot touches loses its soul. While the summarized text is grammatically fine, it feels out of context.

Semrush AI Summarizing Tool

Fails to recognize anything you paste there – you have to type in the entire text manually. Furthermore, after a few unsuccessful attempts, it forces you to subscribe to its useless content generator. (And it ranks on the first page of Google for the keyword: AI Summarizer. What a shame.)

Ahrefs AI Summarizer

This thing generates a summary that’s longer than the original text. Talk about a breakthrough in redundancy.
